Troubleshoot My Computer Is Making Noise

So your having loud noise issues with your computer? There is many things that can cause such a problem and if we try to listen to what our computer is telling us by trying to figure out just what kind of noise we have then we can try to fix the problem at hand.

Try to determine what sound is coming from your computer.

There is only so many moving parts inside your computer. The list of moving parts are as follows:

Hard Drive – the sounds that come from a hard drive over time and seem like a growling sound. Or a clicking sound. usually you can see your hard drive light go in sync with the hard drive growl or clicks. This can be caused from an old hard drive and usually it is time to replace the hard drive.

Fans – There is a few fans that are cooling the inside of your computer. The power supply fan, the CPU fan, and also there could be two fans one on the front and one on the back on the inside of the computer. You could simply try to purchase some compressed air and blow these fans free of any dirt or dust built up.

CD/DVD drives – For some reason the newer laptop cd/dvd drives make a good hum and growl but they say this is normal. If this is happening on an older CD/DVD drive then it is probably time to replace it. The way to determine if this is the cause check and see if you left a CD/DVD in the drive bay and simply pull it out.

That is the most current moving parts in your computer. The only other things is I have noticed that some computer cases are poorly built and seem to shake and rattle because of the fans. Try to hold the sides of the case and apply some pressure and see if you can make the sound go away. If so then you might be able to remove the side covers and reseat them and see if you can get the sound to go away.

If your having more then one beep when your computer is turning on then your computer is trying to tell you something is wrong. Computer beeps can be a lot like Morse code and you need to figure out what the code is. Count the short beeps long beeps etc. Then go to your computer vendors website support and search for beep codes. look up the information then determine the next step in order to fix the problem.

Computer Is Stuck In A Low Resolution

Probably Causes and Solutions

1. Make sure your computer is not actually booting in to safe mode. If a computer is booting in to safe mode then this is normal for the video card to be set in low resolution.

2. Did you just re install Windows Operating System? If this is the case you can go to your vendor website and look for the Support section. Most computer vendors have a support section where you can download drivers and software. Also if this is a new install of Windows you will need to update more than your video drivers. More than likely you will need to download all your drivers for you computer as in your Sound driver, Motherboard Chipset Driver, etc. Do a Google search for Dell Support as an example to locate the correct vendor support page. The simplest method to check what drivers are missing is to look in your control panel. Inside your control panel you should see the system Icon. After you double click on the system Icon you should be able to select the Driver Tab. Now choose Device manager. If you see a ? or ! there is a problem with that particular driver and will need a driver downloaded and installed.

3. A virus or maleware could be causing the problem of low resolution as well. I use two programs to scan my PC with to make sure I keep all the bugs out. Microsoft Security Essentials is a great anti virus and is now free to the public. You can find it by going to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials you can also get a program called Malewarebytes to scan for those pesky Maleware that causes all kinds of problems. I usually download it free of charge by going to http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware Scan you computer with both of these products to make sure your clean from these pesky bugs.

4. You can also use the Microsoft Support website to find any solutions that maybe available. http://support.microsoft.com/

5. You may just have a conflict with some kind of software on your computer with the Video card. our video card could also be going bad.
